HIS 228 History of the South

This course covers the origin and development of the South as a distinct region of the United States. Emphasis is placed on Southern identity and its basis in cultural, social, economic, and political developments during the 19th and 20th centuries. Upon completion, students should be able to identify and analyze the major cultural, social, economic, and political developments in the South. This course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a pre-major and/or elective course requirement. This course has been approved for transfer under the ICAA as a pre-major and/or elective course requirement.
