HIS 221 African-American History

This course covers African-American history from the Colonial period to the present. Topics include African origins, the slave trade, the Civil War, Reconstruction, the Jim Crow era, the civil rights movement, and contributions of African Americans. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze significant political, socioeconomic, and cultural developments in the history of African Americans. This course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a pre-major and/or elective course requirement. This course has been approved for transfer under the ICAA as a pre-major and/or elective course requirement.
