SOC 242 Sociology of Deviance

This course provides an overview of deviant behavior and the processes involved in its definition, causation, prevention, control, and treatment. Topics include theories of causation, social control, delinquency, victimization, criminality, the criminal justice system, punishment, rehabilitation, and restitution. Upon completion, students should be able to identify and analyze issues surrounding the nature and development of social responses to deviance. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a pre-major and/or elective course requirement.
