These curriculums are designed to prepare individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to the fields of architecture, construction, construction management, and other associated professions.
Course work includes instruction in sustainable building and design, print reading, building codes, estimating, construction materials and methods, and other topics related to design and construction occupations.
Graduates of this pathway should qualify for entry-level jobs in architectural, engineering, construction and trades professions as well as positions in industry and government.
A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to residential and commercial building construction and remodeling. Includes instruction in construction equipment and safety; site preparation and layout; construction estimating; print reading; building codes; framing; masonry; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; electrical and mechanical systems; interior and exterior finishing; and plumbing.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Building Construction Technology program, a graduate should be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting construction prints in the form of floor plans, elevations, details, schedules, and specifications.
- Demonstrate proficiency in producing and plotting a CAD drawing.
- Identify and maintain a safe working environment based on OSHA regulations and maintain proper records and certifications.
- Demonstrate understanding the building code inspections process and apply building code principles and requirements to construct projects.
- Demonstrate understanding in site preparation and layout.
- Demonstrate the ability to safely lay out and perform basic framing skills with supervision.
- Demonstrate the ability to safely frame and apply exterior finishes to a residential building with supervision.
- Demonstrate competency in accurately completing a take-off of materials and equipment needs involved in a construction project.

The Associate in Applied Science Degree - Building Construction Technology is awarded by the College upon completion of this program.
