Dependency Status

A student will need to determine whose information to report on the FAFSA. An independent student will report income and asset information for self and spouse. A dependent student will report income and asset information for self and parents. A student may still be considered dependent even If he or she is not living with parents or not being claimed by them on federal income tax returns.
